Apologies for the absence of a website update, hopefully time constraints will ease to allow for timely updates to keep you informed of all Bolters happenings!.

PBMedals / Region Track & Field
Wow, a lot has happened.  We have had many of our athletes successful in receiving their 'PB Medals' (see the updated PB menu at left), and athletes gaining success at the EMR Track & Field championships held over the recent weekend.  Qualifiers and progressions for State Track and Field are now available via the VLAA website so be sure to check to see if you have progressed to run at Olympic Park in March.

Club Presentation Day
With the season fast approaching its end, we are currently making plans for our Presentation Day. Friday 'Twilight' 12th November

Yet again another wet competition with the heavens opening up during our first twilight competition for the season.  One would hope that there's not much more rain intending to interrupt our remaining competition days for November (fingers crossed!).  This Saturday's competition will see a slightly quieter attendance due to the State Multis being conducted in Shepparton over the weekend.  Good luck to those Boronia Bolters athletes heading up to Shepparton.  This week's program is program 'B', which means an early start (8am) for those athletes Under 13 to Under 15 and Youth Athletes wishing to contend the long hurdles.

Thankyou to the Knox Photographers for providing the following Twilight competition photos in my absence.

Saturday 30/10/10

With the impending deluge of rain looming close by we were extremely lucky to be able to complete our program. We even managed to get through most of the hurdles events which were carried over from the previous week's multi event program.  The running of the hurdles for the younger age groups had to be abandoned due to safety reasons as the track was quite slippery for those athletes without spikes.  These athletes will complete their hurdles event this Saturday to finalise the Multi points.  Final results for the Multi Event will be posted some time during the week on the Knox website.

Fundraisers :
We usually hold 2 fundraising events each season.  Our first fundraiser involves packing 'Sample Boxes' for Coles and will be held at Westport Marketing, Factory 21/107 Heatherdale Road Ringwood.  This will be held on Saturday 13th November commencing at 8:00am to approx. 12:00 midday.  The more boxes we pack the more money we raise, so please, we ask that you make an effort to come along (even if you can spare 1 hour) and the kids can come along and help too (Under 12 and up only please).  As the saying goes - many hands make light work! This money enables us to supply bags, drink bottles and caps to the Bolters athletes free of charge, and also pays for trophies.

Hopefully you will have all received a booklet of raffle tickets from our major sponsor Ferntree Gully Nissan, with the prize being a brand new Nissan Micra! Tickets are to be sold for $2 each and all money raised goes to our club.  If you haven't yet received your booklet of tickets to sell, please see the ladies at the table.

Saturday 23/10/10 - Multi Event

Well, it was 'partly' our Multi Event!! With persistent rain overnight and continuing throughout the morning with constant showers, the Multi Event went ahead all bar the Hurdles.  This event will be added to the program this week to count towards the overall Multi point score for each athlete.  Keep your fingers crossed for better weather although the forecast is not looking promising!  Please remember your patch as the 'no patch no points' rule is now in force.  This week is also 'Long Hurdles' for the older age groups only (U13/14/15 & Interaths) and this means an 8am start for those wanting to compete in this event.

If you are interested in receiving a 'high res' copy of your child's photo from the published photos on our website, please contact myself (Andrea) at par.dunn@optusnet.com.au specifying the photo i.d. and the requested photo can then be emailed to you.

Saturday 16/10/10 - Rained out

Apparently it has been almost 2 years since a Knox competition has had to be cancelled due to heavy rain - and that's exactly what happened last Saturday.  After attempting to run the program for an hour, the weather won out and the call to cancel the competition rang out over the loudspeakers at Knox Park.  And as such, unfortunately there are no photos this week.

This Saturday is our 'Multi Day' where athletes compete in 5 events (4 events for U7's), accumulating points for each time/distance from the events.  Please remember to wear your patch as the 'No Patch - No Points' rule applies from this week onwards.  Lost patches can be replaced by visiting the announcing area and purchasing one for $1 each.

See you Saturday for Multi Day!

Saturday 9/10/10

Things are starting to hot up, not only with regards to the weather, but on the track too!  All Boronia Bolters athletes performed brilliantly, one of these being U15 athlete Nathan Brill.  Nathan scorched the track with a new Club Record in the 1500m Walk event, setting a new time to beat of 6.19:82.  Well done Nathan.

This Saturday we will be running Program C.  It will also be 'Bring A Friend Day'.  Bring your friends along to have a taste of the fun of Little Aths.  Remember to make sure your 'friend' reports to the Bolters table to register before competing.  Parents, please remember to submit your name to the ladies at the table if you haven't yet put your name down for a duty program.  A smooth running program is highly dependent on parent duty input.

Saturday 2/10/10 (Official Opening)

Well we couldn't have asked for nicer weather for our official opening and first competition day of the 2010/11 Summer Track & Field Season.  With a shortened program to cater for the official march past and opening ceremony and plenty of Collingwood and St Kilda fans keen to leave to enjoy the replay of the Grand Final, plenty of time was left for new and returning athletes to perform at their best with many obtaining PB's since their last competition 6 months ago.

A big welcome to all new Boronia Bolters athletes and their families and of course welcome back to all our familiar faces.  We hope you enjoy the little athletic season and strive to do your best whilst having fun with your friends.  A friendly reminder that we will be formally commencing our duty requirements this Saturday.  It is vitally important that each family honour their duty commitments - this forms part of your child's registration and is mandatory to enable each week's program to run smoothly.  Your commitment is most appreciated.

Next week's competition will be running 'Program B', with an 8:00am start for athletes U13-U15 & Youth Athletes wishing to compete in the long hurdles.  For all other athletes the program commences at 8:30.  With our weather starting to warm up, please remember to slip, slop, slap!  See you Saturday.
